J is for JALAPENO PEPPERS #AtoZChallenge

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
My daily #AtoZ posts combine two concepts in under-300-words per day:
an appealing food choice along with thoughts that spring to mind.

Chicken with Jalapeno Peppers
At Subway, I always ask for jalapeno peppers with my chicken. When you choose your garnishes for your sandwich, do you tell the clerk: "give me everything" or do you go down the line pointing out each thing you want added to your sandwich? Then, after you've finished, do you realize it would have been easier to just say, "hold the spinach leaves"?

Jalapeno poppers with cream cheese

I haven't had a jalapeno popper for years. T.G.I.Friday's had good ones. Poppers are so addictive, even worse than potato chips. They were a staple back in the day when most every Friday after work was El Torito time.

But then, it was also margarita time, ice cubes . . . not crushed, lots of salt on the rim. Those food and drink choices are best left in my store of memories!

Funny, the thoughts triggered by food.

  1. I totally remember those jalapeƱo poppers at TGI Fridays! They were delicious. I've had some since then, here and there, but I'm pretty sure those were the best.

  2. I used to like growing jalapenos in my garden when I had one, because I'd find so many uses for them-- salsa, poppers, chopped fresh in salads, tossed whole into soup stock. Really love these hot little peppers!

    1. Lucky to have them in your garden. Don't suppose you carry any around in your purse.

  3. We often split a foot long with the same ingredients, except for the fact hubby loves jalapeƱos and I don't. So we ask for them on the side. And yes, we just go down the row asking for what we want.

    1. It just dawned on me that I would always add them to my hotdog at the movies - when they offered almost as many relish choices as Subway.

  4. I have never said yes to a jalapeno pepper! Maybe it's time I did.

    1. Suggestion, Jacqui: Add it to a sandwich so it transfers the flavor to the other ingredients, but then don't eat them.
