The heart is also a symbol of Valentine’s Day. My thoughts immediately go to the heart of the murder while someone who recently endured a medical exam might picture a stethoscope monitoring an anxious heart beat.
Valentine’s Day hearts conjure up memories of love. One heart with two wedding rings brings a smile to a couple wed on Valentine’s Day. A cross-stitch of red hearts reminds a daughter of a mother’s gift; a royal flush to the Ace of Hearts has a Vegas winner beaming. Others get all fuzzy over a heart-shaped box of chocolates, a grinning cupid, or a pair of cooing love birds. Hearts on Fire can only mean young love, and boys naturally love heart-shaped balloons.
A heart surrounding a globe brings a tear to the eyes of grandparents whose families live far away. The mantle holds a framed purple heart of a loved one lost in battle. Flowers and an arrow-pierced heart represent a lifetime spent with a childhood sweetheart, the memories bittersweet. The Sacred Heart means salvation for many, and bright lockets remind one of a young girl’s special day.Happy Valentine’s Day, and wishes for a wonderful day: Especially for You and Your Loved Ones!
What special memories do you have of this holiday?

Do you have a special "heart" story? After Dad had quadruple by-pass surgery, he lived to celebrate many Valentine's Days, and his fish stories were always true!
ReplyDeleteI'm as romantic as a stick. Honestly. I'm missing the entire female gene that makes you decorate stuff, long for red roses, and actually plan your wedding.
ReplyDeleteWe have little girls though, and daddy was poking around at Target today putting little treats together for them-he had this goofy smile on his face, and it was the sweetest moment.
It helps that my little girls like matchbox cars, too. Celebrating Valentine's day around here is another excuse to coax those gorgeous, sunshine-y smiles out of my little loves.
Followed you back. :)
I can't recall ever celebrating valentines after grade school. I guess it must of happened a couple of times through the years but couldn't have been anything really special or I would remember. I told my husband that he had better get me some flowers this year though. Not really because of valentines day but just because it's a good excuse and I haven't had any cut flowers to put on the table in ages. We haven't been spending money on anything extra for a while but it is winter and cold and murky and I WANT some!
ReplyDeletematchbox cars! priceless.
ReplyDelete@Elle,hope you receive some cut flowers for Valentine's Day. If you do, please post a picture on Just Me Wyrdings :)
If I get some I will post a picture. That way I can still have them to remember even after they are gone! Great suggestion! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteAbout my button post..I meant the button on my right sidebar with the name of my blog on it...the html below it is supposed to allow folks to put the button on their sites and have it link back to me. I'm not sure I have it fixed so it will do what it is supposed to do. Hopefully someone who knows will come along and look at it and let me know.
I have had one Valentine's day card and one Valentine's day present in my life, on different Valentine's days. Oh, and on another Valentine's day I got an anonymous red rose. Which was nice.
ReplyDeleteThe present was last year; half a red balloon arch that my then boyfriend "liberated" from the doorway of a nightclub in Cusco, Peru. I woke up at three o'clock in the morning to find red balloons all over my bed :)
Thanks for your comment on my blog, by the way. I appreciate you taking the time :)
